This spot for Cobra Golf really carries a powerful message that can be applied far beyond the borders of the golf world. It features a few recognizable up and coming PGA members including Jason Gore, Ian Poulter, J.B. Holmes, Camilo Villegas, and Geoff Ogilvy (no relation to David Ogilvy). The ad simply shows these pros who play with Cobras on the tour discussing how the Cobra driver has helped improve and tighten their game. The ad focuses on the technology behind the design and power of their drivers. Nowadays in many professions, golf and advertising included, better technology has resulted in better performance. The world is quickly evolving into a technology-driven society, and the farther you stay ahead of your competition, the better your products and services will perform. Like J.B. Holmes states in the commercial, "It's always helpful when you're 40-yards ahead of everybody." This statement has a bit of a double meaning. Of course, it's helpful to be 40-yards ahead of your competition on the fairway, but at the same time it might be even more helpful to be metaphorically 40-yards ahead of your competition in terms of technological progress. This spot seems rather simple at first glance, but its underlying message really says a lot about the technological direction that our world is heading in.
thanks for posting, Ben. Can't tell you how much fun we have on the Cobra shoots.
